AOD-9604 (LAT8881) is a synthetic peptide made of the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (mature residues 177-191) with an added N-terminal tyrosine and a Cys7-Cys14 disulfide bond. Studies in obese rodents reported reduced weight gain and more lipolysis, and an in vitro study reported that it does not compete for the growth hormone receptor. Preclinical work names lanthionine synthetase C-like proteins (LanCL1, LanCL2) as candidate targets. Lateral Pharma has run phase 2 trials of oral LAT8881 in migraine and neuropathic pain and a phase 1 intravenous study in lumbar radicular pain; it has no FDA or EMA approval.
