What the limits count

Chat answers: Questions answered in chat. Each question you send counts once.
API and search calls: Requests to the REST API and the MCP server. Browsing the website is not counted.
Live source lookups: Searches that go out to Europe PMC or PubMed for studies that PepBank does not have yet.
Exports: Downloaded files (CSV, JSON and other formats) of study results, studies or trials.

Export limits start again each month. All other limits start again each day. Reading pages is always free.

Questions

Is the data free?

Yes. Every plan reads the same study results, source sentences and citations. The data is licensed CC BY 4.0. Plans change limits and extra features, not what you can read.

Can a plan or a payment change the results?

No. Every plan gets the same study results, ranked by the same published rule, with the same evidence labels. See How PepBank works for how results are collected and ranked.

Do I need an account to use the API?

No. Without a key, each network address can make 2,000 REST calls a day and 50,000 calls a day to the hosted MCP server. With a free key, REST and MCP calls count toward one daily total. REST calls stop when that total reaches 10,000. Calls to the hosted MCP server stop at 50,000. Create keys on your account page.

Who counts as a researcher?

People at a university, a research institute or a pharma or biotech company. Verify with your work email or, where it is set up, an ORCID iD. Verification is free and lasts 12 months. If we do not recognize your institution, use the contact form and we check it by hand.

What happens to my data?

Your account holds your email, name, conversations, saved items and API keys. You can delete it at any time on the account page. That removes all of them at once.
